Flexibility is the key word at Checkendon. We cater for everyone: children and adults who want to sample the excitement of riding for the first time, right through to skilled horsemen and women who want to brush up on their techniques. We don't ask you to fit in with what we teach. Instead, we teach to your needs, whether it be dressage, lungeing, show jumping, cross country, or hacking out in the beautiful Oxfordshire country side.

Lessons

Our lessons are structured to your needs. We mostly offer individual lessons as this is the most effective way to learn. However if you have others that you would like to ride with we can offer a semi-private lesson. Alternatively we do have some groups which you can join - please enquire as to the times of these.

Lessons are tailored to you and what you are looking to achieve - whether you are learning for the first time, trying to win back your confidence or want to learn to do cross country. We have the perfect horse and instructor combinations for all circumstances.

Walks in the Woods

For our beginners and small children we have walks in the woods - this is a half hour walk in our picturesque woodland on or off the lead rein. We find that this is the best way for beginners to get to feel how the horse moves and build up confidence before they begin lessons.

Our Horses

Our horses are perfect for all stages of riding skills. They have been placed in local and regional dressage, show jumping, cross country and eventing competitions.

Instructors

Our instructors are experienced, professional, dedicated, friendly and, above all, properly qualified to teach you. They have passed the various British Horse Society examinations and they often compete with the school horses (and their own), thus helping them to help you become a better rider.

Hacking

Hacking: You may only want to ride out in the countryside, and what better way to spend an hour or a day? Our hacks avoid roads as much as possible and are designed to let you enjoy the fabulous surroundings in peace and tranquillity.
