Massage

There is a fully equipped room for aromatherapy massage, body massage and sports massage on people

Massage is a recognised complementary therapy. It is used for stress relief, relieving muscular aches and pains, and for relaxation. Overall, massage can physically benefit the body by increasing metabolism and improving circulation. Massage promotes relaxation and helps relieve fatigue, tension and anxiety.

Body massage, aromatherapy massage and sports massage are available at Checkendon Equestrian Centre. All the massages are adapted to suit each individual client.

A full consultation and medical history is taken before the first massage to ensure safe and effective treatments. The client is asked whether there are any areas of tension causing discomfort and requiring more attention.

Massage can be applied to the back, neck, shoulders, arms and legs.

Body massage

Body massage is a relaxing massage that can reduce muscle tension and help de-stress the body. The amount of pressure can be adjusted to suit each individual client, as some people prefer a deeper massage to others. A session usually last for an hour.

Aromatherapy massage

Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils blended in almond or grapeseed oil. The essential oils are blended to suit each client's individual needs. Aromatherapy massage is very relaxing and gives the client a good sense of well being. The oils are also useful for stress relief, depression, insomnia, muscular aches and pains and many other physical and emotional symptoms. Aromatherapy massage is usually an hour and can included the face if the client wishes.

Sports massage

Sports massage is a deep massage used to reduce muscle tension, increase range of movement and help prevent muscle spasm and injury.

Sports massage can help increase or decrease muscle length and tone depending on the client's needs.

Sports massage can be used pre, post and inter event if required.

Sports massage spends longer on the muscles so an hour would not be a full body massage. The client and massage therapist can discuss the treatment before the massage.

Sports massage can benefit anyone, not only athletes.
